AAA Cards Challenge Game 227 - Anything CAS Goes

 Hello Crafty friends,

It's time for challenge game 227 at AAA Cards, and this fortnight we would love to see anything CAS (clean and simple with lots of empty space).

Here's the cue card

It doesn't have to be a Halloween themed card,
it can be
ANYTHING as long as it's CAS.

My card has got a Halloween theme, as I needed a halloween card. I ink blended through a stencil, then stamped a little spider in one of the nets, and heat embossed it with som sparkly black embossing powder. A stamped sentiment and my card was done.

Products used:
Stencil: Mask stencil - slimline Halloween by Marianne design
Inks: Distress Oxide "Villainous potion" by Tim Holtz/Ranger, Memento "Tuxedo Black" and VersaMark "Watermark stamp pad" by Tsukineko
Embossing powder: nuvo "Glitter Noir" by Tonic Studios

AAA Cards Challenge Game 226 - Sketch + optional twist Thankful

Hello,

It's time for a new CAS challenge at AAA Cards. This fortnight we have a sketch for you, with the optional twist "Thankful".

Here's the cue card

On my card I have used a technique I've learned from Nancy  using washi tape. You ink up the sticky side of the washi tape and place it down on your card. Then you pull it up again, leaving a fun texture, almost like a painted effect, on your card. It's such a fun and easy technique, and I will definitly try it again.

Welcome little one

 Hello Crafty friends,

Today I'm sharing a special card for a very special little girl, our sixth grandchild (and third granddaughter) baby Freja.

Freja is the third child of our second eldest, Jacob. I wanted to have the whole family represented on the card so I used the cute stamp set "Swan Soiree" by Lawn Fawn, and added a Daddy and Mummy swan with three little ones on my card. The colour in the background is "Saltwater taffy" Distress Oxide by Tim Holtz/ Ranger.

AAA Birthday Game #42 - A Favourite Technique

 Hello and Happy Monday,

It's the first Monday of the month, and time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday. For the month of October we would like to see birthday cards created using a favourite technique of yours.

Here's the cue card

One of my go to techniques is the emboss resist technique. Heat embossing combined with ink blending is a quick and easy way to create a card, and so versatile too. Even if you only have a few minutes to spare you can create amazing cards, my card took less than ten minutes to make.

I started by stamping and heat embossing the flowers on a panel. Then I masked of the stamped area and ink blended over the flowers. To finish my card I stamped my sentiment "Grattiskramar" (free translation: "Birthday hugs") on the panel, before adhering it to a card base.

Products used;
Paper:
Neenah Solar White
Stamp sets: "Kate 4" by CraftEmotions and "Ännu mer Grattis" by hÄnglar & Wings
Inks: VersaMark watermark stamp pad and Memento, both by Tsukineko and Distress Ink by Tim Holtz/ Ranger.
Embossing powder: Clear Gloss Super Fine by WOW!

I hope you've been inspired to join the challenge as I, and the rest of the Design Team, would love to see your favourite technique on a Birthday card!

Please visit AAA Birthday's challenge blog for more information on the challenge, and more inspiration by the talented Design Team. Our Guest Designer for the month of October is Åsa J, and I can highly recommend a visit to her blog as she makes the most amazing cards.

"To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrows" - Art journaling

 Hello,
and welcome to a new week of crafting!
Today I'm sharing an art journal spread I created over the weekend. I'm still struggling with finding my mojo, but watching art videos on Youtube and playing with all the inspiring goodies by Vicky Papaioannou is really helping, and this spread was inspired by one of Vicky´s art journal pages where she planted flowers in the wellies from her ephemera pack.

This was not what I had envisioned when I started working on this spread, but once again my mistakes led me in another direction than the one I intended. And I must say I absolutely love it!

My plan was to create a page, not a two page spead, in blues and greens, so I started of by ink blending the right hand side of this spead in those colours, but somehow I managed to mess it up completely. I didn't know how to save the page and thought the only way was to paint it over with black paint, but I didn't want to create another black background. My eyes caught sight of an ink pad with Distress oxide in Vintage photo laying on my table, and I grabbed it and started swiping it across the page. It looked aweful! In a desperate attempt to clean it of I grabbed a baby wipe and started rubbing on the Oxide ink. I didn't get it all but it matted the colour. The left side of the spread looked very bare next to the brown mess on the right side so I took the baby wipe, full of oxide ink, and rubbed across the left side. It left the most beautiful wood effect look on the page, and I almost wish I had stopped there (or at least taken a photo of it). The right side was still a brown mess so I decided to try to salvage it by using some white Distress paint over it, which I applied using a brayer. Then I just went for it with stamps and inks. I had no clue on what to create until I saw, in the corner of my eye, my Vicky Papaioannou's ephemera pack with those green wellies. As Vicky I planted some flowers in my wellies, and finished the spread by adding some rubbons, some splatters and a sentiment to the spread. The sentiment " To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrows" is a quote by Audrey Hepburn.

Products used:
Art journal: "Create Happiness" Mixed Media Journal by Vicky Papaioannou/Stamperia
Paint and ink: Distress Paint "Picket Fence", Distress Oxide "Vintage Photo" and Distress Ink "Black Soot" by Tim Holtz/Ranger, Brilliance "Moonlight white" by Tsukineko
Ephemera: "Create Happiness" ephemera pack and Rub Ons by Vicky Papaioannou/Stamperia
Sentiment: DYMO LetraTag

I hope you like my spread, I love it!
If you've made it this far, reading all my text, I'm truly impressed!

AAA Cards Challenge Game 224 - Colour Scheme + optional twist Dots or Spots

 Hello,
It's time for a new CAS card challenge over at AAA Cards!
This fortnight we have a colour scheme for you, with the optional twist of Dots or Spots.

Here's the cue card

and now for my take on the challenge

As you can see I decided to go with the twist.
To create my dots/spots I used some Transfer gel Duo through a stencil. When it had dried I cut out tiny pieces of deco foil in red, pink, yellow and blue and placed over the gel dots/spots before running it through my die cutting machine. Then it was just to peel away the access foil to reveal the shiny little dots/spots. I stamped a sentiment saying "Idag firar vi dig!/ Today we celebrate you!", stamp set by hÄnglar & Wings.
