AAA Birthday Card challenge #75

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's a new month and time for a new challenge over at AAA Birthday card challenges. This month it is our very own queen of rainbows Kati who has chosen the theme, and the theme for the month is -

Summer Birthday

a fun theme, perfect for the month of July (at least if you live in the northern hemisphere). Here is my summer birthday card

My card is a summer take on the card I created for the "winter birthday" theme we had back in January this year. Here is a link to my winter birthday card.

I started by die cutting the white background panel for this card. I then stamped and heat embossed the panel using white embossing powder to get a subtle effect. It does show in real life but was difficult to catch on camera. Here is a close up, where you might see it a little bit better

The little girl was stamped and coloured before I fussy cut her out (not my favourite thing to do). I die cut the birthday greeting and placed the girl so that she sits on top of the sentiment. Now I had to decide on the backgound for the panel and the greeting. I tryed a variety of papers, plain and patterned, but in the end I decided to go with the green for a fresh Scandinavian look. The whole thing was addhered to a card base and my card was done. I hope you like it, and that you are inspired to join us in this fun summer challenge!

You have until the 31st of July to create, upload and link your Summer Birthday card to the AAA Birthday card challenge blog. The challenge blog is filled with fun, beautiful and mouth watering birthday cards by the design team and our special guest designer for the month, Pauline. I love Paulines card, it is beautiful and it really screams summer.

AAA Birthday Card challenge #74

Hello Friends,

It is the 1st of June, yay, and time for a new fun challenge over at AAA Birthday Card challenges. This months theme was chosen by Kateryna aka pioniya, and the theme for the month of June is -

No Stamping

and here is my take

Most of the time I use at least one stamp when creating a birthday card, if not for the image for a greeting on my card. Do you create cards without any stamping? The design team and our special guest designer for the month Wendy (love her card!) have filled the AAA Birthday card challenge blog with fabulous cards without any stamping for us to be inspired by. All the information on how to play along can also be found on the blog, so why not head on over to be inspired to create your very own No Stamping Birthday card?!

You have until June 30th to create, upload and link your Birthday card to the AAA Birthday card challenge blog. Hope you will join us.

Want to know how I created my card?
I started by ink blending a card panel I had die cut out of some white cardstock. I used stencils by Lawn Fawn and Distress oxides. After ink blending I splattered the panel with a little water to get the oxides to react. Then it was time for the little monkey, unfortunately I don't know the name or brand as I bought the die set at a jumble sale. I die cut all of the pieces out of coloured and kraft cardstock and assembled it. He is so cute, don't you think? I added some white gel pen marks here and there on the monkey to make him pop a little. I addhered the monkey and the branch he is hanging from to the panel, and addhered it all to a card base. Now it was time for a birthday greeting. I had intended to use a die cut a sentiment, but I couldn't find a "Happy Birthday" die that fit my card. So I decided on the number seven placed on a circle of vellum as the card was created for a cute little monkey who turned seven this spring.

AAA Birthday Card challenge #72

 Hello,

It's the first of April and time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday card challenges. The theme for the month was chosen by our talented design team member, Maaike, and she has picked a magical theme for us to be inspired by this month. The theme for the month of April is -

Mythical

Here is my take on this fun, magical and mythical challenge

I just knew I had to use this stunning unicorn by Visible Image for this challenge. I stamp the unicorn on a card base that I had already die cut. I added a few circles to the design and stamped a birthday greeting on the panel. Using a rainbow of colours I coloured the mane and the horn of the unicorn, and the greeting. I also added some glossy accent to some of the circles on the panel. The panel was addhered to a card base, and my card was done.

I created this card with our granddaughter, Maja, in mind. She loves horses, and unicorns, and goes horse riding every week so I thought she would like this for her birthday, and she did... she loved it!

Now it is your turn to get creative! So bring out your dragons, unicorns, fairies, leprechauns, mermaids, cyclopes and so on, and start creating a magical mythical birthday card. You have until the 30th of April to create, upload and link your mythical birthday card to the AAA Birthday card challenge blog. Hope you will join us!

AAA Birthday Card challenge #70

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It is the 1st of February and time for a new birthday card challenge at AAA Birthday card challenges. The theme for the month was picked by our talented DT member Vicki, and it is such a fun theme this month -

Ink Smooshing

Here is my take on the challenge

I started by stamping my image on a card panel, then it was time for some ink smooshing. I used a piece of acetate and pressed the ink pads directly onto the acetate, then I sprayed the ink with some water to make it move. The acetate was pressed onto my stamped image to colour the flowers and leaves. I tried to smoosh the inks on to the flowers so they all got a different colour. I stamped a birthday greeting, and gave the panel a black border/frame before addhering it to my card base.

Products used for this card
Inks:
Distress Inks by Tim Holtz/Ranger, VersaFine Clair "Nocturn" by Tsukineko
Stamp set: From my stash, don't know the brand

Now it is your turn! We can't wait to see your ink smooshed birthday cards. You have until the 28th of February to create, upload and link your birthday card to the AAA Birthday Card challenge blog.

AAA Birthday Card challenge #69

 Happy New Year Crafty Friends,

and welcome to a new year filled with birthday card challenges at AAA Birthday Card challenges! To kick off 2025 we have a fun wintry theme for you to get inspired by, chosen by the lovely Jane T. The theme for the month of January is -

Winter Birthday

so we want to see birthday cards fit for a winter birthday celebration. Here is my take on the theme

Living on the northern hemisphere, I immediatly thought of snow and ice when I found out this month's theme. The cute little snowman by Tim Holtz/ Sizzix was my inspiration for this card. He was laying there on my desk, left over from making Christmas cards and tags, and I just had to put him to use. I combined him with a few other die sets by Tim Holtz/ Sizzix to create this card, except for the stitched rectangle that's from Lawn Fawn. To get the cold crispy feeling of winter I added sparkling silver paper behind the die cut panel.

Now it's you turn. How are you inspired by the theme? We would love to see your birthday cards fit for a winter birthday. You have until January 31st to create, upload and link your winter birthday card to the AAA Birthday Card challenge blog. Hope to see you there!

The challenge blog is filled beautiful, cute and fun wintry birthday greetings from all around the world, so why not head on over and get inspired. Don't forget to check out the card from our first special guest designer of the year and for this challenge, Colien. Her card is so cute!

AAA Birthday Card challenges Game #66 - Circle Shaped

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's October 1st and time for a new Birthday Card challenge at AAA Birthday! The theme for the month was chosen by our talented DT member Deekshita and it's a real fun one -

Circle Shaped

We want you to create birthday cards that are circle shaped, so no rectangular or square cards with circles on them. The card has to be circle shaped/ round.

Here's my take

I have made a circle shaped shaker card for my husband who is a sailor and diver, hence the nautical/ocean themed design.

I started by die cutting all the pieces I needed for the card, then I ink blended the ocean background. I coloured and assembled the pieces for the fish, sea weed and coral. I put together the ocean scene. I then decided to turn the card into a shaker card, so I die cut some more portholes to layer on top of each other to create some depth for my shaker elements, and I cut a piece of acetate for my shaker window. I assembled it all and glued it to my circular card base. I added a banner with a stamped birthday greeting, and an anchor, on top of the card.

Product used for this card
Dies: Circle die by Craft Emotions, Coastal Escape View by Spellbinders
Embossing Folder: "Lumber" 3D folder by Tim Holtz
Stamps: "Reveal wheel circle sentiments" by lawn Fawn
Inks: Distress Oxides "Salvaged Patina", "Peacock Feathers" and "Salty Ocean" by Tim Holtz/Ranger
Markers: Copic
Embellishments: Glass Beads crystal by Finnabair

AAA Birthday Card challenges Game #65 - Background Focus

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's the 1st of the month and you know what that means....... time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday. This month we have a fun theme for you, chosen by our talented  DT member Kateryna, we want to see birthday cards with -

Background Focus

I tried quite a few different painting/colouring techniques and colour mediums when trying to come up with what to make for this challenge. Here is the end result of my play

I ended up using a panel I created playing with my alcohol inks, which I should do more often. It looks nothing like what I had envisioned, but as it's only the third time I've played with the inks I happy. Turning the panel into a card was difficult, at least to me, but I decided to keep it simple and only added a birthday greeting, a border in the same paper as the greeting and a few sequins. I added it all to a card base and voilà c'est tout.

Products used
Inks:
Alcohol ink "Magenta" by Pentart (and Isopropyl alcohol)
Papers: Mirror Card "Holo Waves" by Tonic Studios, Yupo paper and Neenah Solar white cardstock
Die: Happy Birthday die from my stash
Embellishments: silver sequins from my stash

Now it's your turn! You have until the 30th of September to create, upload and link your background focused birthday cards to the AAA Birthday challenge blog. Hope to see you there!

The AAA Birthday Card Challenge blog is filled with beautiful birthday cards for you to be inspired by, created by our guest designer for this challenge, the talented Hanneke, and my awesome design team colleagues. So why not head on over and have a look round, and give them all some love while you are there. You can also find all the information you need on how to play along on the challenge blog.

AAA Birthday Card challenges Game #64 - Critters

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's the 1st of August and time for challenge game #64 at AAA Birthday. For the month of August we want to see birthday cards with -

Critters

This fun theme was chosen by our talented DT member Maaike, the queen of CAS cards. Don't forget to pay her a visit, and show her some love!

So what have I come up with this time? Even though I have often used critters on my cards my mind went blank. What on earth should I make, and what kind of critter should I incorpurate? Does your mind ever go blank like this?

Going through my stamps and dies my eyes were drawn to a stamp set I've never used before, even though I've had it for ages. So I just had to go with it, and here is what I came up with

The sentiment on the card reads " Holy Cow! Is it your birthday, again?" (free translation from Swedish).
I stamped and fussy cut the cow before colouring it. Then I die cut a background panel and gave it some colour. The cow was placed on top of the panel and addhered with some 3D foam. I stamped and cut out the sentiments, and gave the sentiment strips a black border using a black marker before gluing them to the panel. The panel was addhered to a card base and my card was done.

Products used for this card
Stamp sets both by hÄnglar & Wings; "Konny" and "Mer Grattis"
Markers: Copic
Paper: Neenah Solar White
Ink: Memento "Tuxedo Black" by Tsukineko and Distress Oxide by Tim Holtz/Ranger

I hope you are inspired to play along with this fun challenge. In need of more inspiration? Head on over to the AAA Birthday challenge blog, which is filled with lots of fun and cute birthday cards by the design team and our special guest designer for the month, the talented Karen

You have until the 31st of August to create, upload and link your critter filled birthday cards to the AAA Birthday card challenge blog. Hope to see you there!

Birthday Cheer

 Hello,

Inspired by the July challenge - Fabulous Flowers - at AAA Birthday, and a few other great challenges, I just had to create a second card on the theme.

I fell in love with this postage die as soon as I saw it, and all the cute, beautiful and fun creations I've seen on social media, so in the end I just had to get one for myself. This is my first time playing with the die, and I just love it! It's so versatile, and I have so many ideas on how to use it.

For this card I paired it with some beautiful die cut flowers, and a little bee. I started by die cutting all the pieces for the flowers and the postage background panel. I ink blended the postage panel in a soft blue using Distress oxide. Assembled the flowers, which I'd cut from coloured cardstock and added some ink to, and addhered them to the postage panel. I stamped a few post related images and a birthday greeting to the postage panel. I addhered the panel to a card base after giving it a frame/background in the same colour as the flowers. I felt there was something missing, so I die cut a bee, assembled it and added it to the card.

I hope you like it, and that you are inspired to play along with us at AAA Birthday. For more information on the challenge please see my previous post or the AAA Birthday Card challenge blog

AAA Birthday Card challenges Game #61 - CAS

Hello Crafty Friends;

It's the 1st of May and time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday. The theme for the month, which was chosen by DT member Helen, is

CAS
(Clean And Simple)

This is one of my favourite styles of cards, and here is what I came up with for the challenge

I stamped the image and masked it before adding some ink to the background. I removed the mask and coloured the bear (isn't he just adorable?!) with my markers. I stamped the birthday greeting, and my card was done. A quick and easy one layer CAS card.

Products used
Stamp set:
"Bears" by C.C. Designs
Ink: Distress Oxide ink by Tim Holtz/ Ranger
Markers: Copic
Paper: Neenah Solar white

Now it's your turn! We would love to see your CAS birthday cards fill up the challenge blog at AAA Birthday. Not sure about the criterias for CAS cards? CAS stands for "clean and simple" so clean lines and lots of white/empty space on your card, and your there. Information on how to play along with us can be found on the challenge blog. AAA Birthday Cards challenges Game #60 - Shaker

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's the 1st of April and time for a new birthday card challenge at AAA Birthday challenges, and do we have a fun theme for you this month! It's all about

Shaker Cards

This fun theme was chosen by the talented DT member, Swapna. Please see challenge card further down

Here's my take

I don't create shaker cards that often. I find them a bit tricky to get right. I either get to much or too few shaker elements in my card, and it doesn't matter how much I "dust off" the glue from the sides of the 3D foam, my shaker elements always get stuck on it anyway. But this time I think I managed quite well, right amount of shaker elements and not many of them got stuck. I do like shaker cards, and think they are a lot of fun. And I must admit I had a lot of fun creating this card.

Now it's your turn! You have until the 30th of April to create, upload and link your shaker birthday card to the AAA Birthday challenge blog. The challenge blog is filled with fun and beautiful inspiration by the talented design team and our special guest for the month, Deborah Frings. So head on over to the challenge blog, and while you are there give them all some love!

If you want to know how I created my card and what products I used, please keep reading. Otherwise

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, I really appreciate it!

Take care keep crafting and have fun!

Jane
x

How I created my card, and product used
I started by cutting out a cupcake using my Silhouette. I cut out the top of the cake (a cupcake top shaped hole) directly on my card panel, which I had already die cut. Then I cut out two whole cupcakes, one in pink and one in blue. Using my scissors I cut off the top from the blue cake and the bottom of the pink one. Then I glued the pink top on the blue bottom parts to create my pink cupcake in a blue capcake wrapping. The pink cupcake in its blue wrapping was glued on top of the cupcake opening on the card panel. The bithday greeting was stamped, after bending it slightly to shape it to the cake. Then it was time to adhere the card panel to the card base, but first I added some pink paper and some sprinkles on the card base. Just before adhering the panel I realised I had forgotten to attach the acetate behind my cupcake shaped hole in the card panel. I added the acetate and some 3D foam strips on the back of the panel and adhered it to the card base. I added a a puffy heart and my shaker card was done.

Products used
Die set: "Small Dotted rectangle Stackables" by Lawn Fawn
Papers: Neenah Solar white cardstock, "Watercolor Wishes" 6x6" petite paper pack by Lawn Fawn
Stamp set: "Baked with Love" by Lawn Fawn
Embellishments: "Rainbow Crumbs" by Dress My Craft, "color theory" hearts by Studio Calico

AAA Birthday Card challenges Game #59 - Geometric

Hi Hello Good Morning/ Afternoon/ Evening,

Hope everyone is doing well!

Can you believe it's already the 1st of March? The first month of Spring (I hope)! March can be a month of winter aswell as a month of spring here in the south of Sweden. I'm crossing my fingers and hope for spring! One thing is certain, and that is that it is time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday. This month's theme was chosen by our design team member Vicki, and the theme is

Geometric

so for the month of March we would like to see birthday cards with geometric shapes, see challenge card further down. Here is my take

For this card I have gone with a geometric butterfly as my focal point. I started by die cutting the butterfly out of some black cardstock, and adhered it to a white panel. At first I was going to leave it as is, but then I decided to fill in the openings on the butterfly. I found a piece of scrap paper from the last time I played with my alcohol inks, and die cut a second butterfly from it. I picked out the small pieces from inside the butterfly and placed them into the openings on the black butterfly on my card panel. I thought about filling all the spaces but I really liked how it looks with some left empty. I stamped a birthday greeting, gave the panel a black border and glued it all to a card base.

Products used
Die:
"Origami Butterfly D180516" by Gummiapan
Stamp set: "FikaErika" by hÄnglar&Wings
Papers: from my stash
Alcohol inks by Ranger and by pentart

I hope you'll join us in this fun challenge! You have until the 31st of March to create, upload and link your geometric inspired birthday card to the AAA Birthday challenge blog.

Need more inspiration, and/ or information on how to play along? Head on over to the challenge blog. It is filled with beautiful birthday cards by the design team and our special guest designer for the month, Karen Rogers. Don't forget to visit their blogs/ social media and show them some love!

Hearts and Birthday

 Hello Crafty Friends,

Hope you are having, or have had, a lovely weekend!

Today I'm sharing a CAS (Clean and Simple, with lots of white/ empty space) birthday card, inspired by all the lovely heart filled challenges out there, including our current challenge at AAA Birthday - Hearts.

I started by die cutting a card panel, and then some hearts along one side of the panel. I stamped and heat embossed a birthday greeting to the panel. I added a piece of scrap paper, leftover from playing with my alcohol inks, behind the hearts. I gave the panel a thin black border before adding it to my card front. Three little enamel dots and my card was done.

AAA Birthday Card challenges Game #58 - Hearts

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's the 1st of February and time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday Card challenges. The theme for the month, chosen by me this time, is

Hearts

Please see challenge card further down.

When I first chose the theme I had all these ideas of what I would create, but then when I sat down to make my card they were all gone and I had no idea of what to do. I started going through my stash and found this stamp set with hearts by hÄnglar & Wings. I love this set and decided to create a CAS (clean and simple) birthday card using the beautiful hearts. The actual card took me minutes to make, but the prossess to get there took forever. That's just how it is sometimes, you get struck by "crafters block". The good thing is after making this card it was like the block just lifted and my creativity came back in full swing.

The sentiment on the card reads "Happy Birthday" in Swedish.

I hope you are inspired to play along with us.
