AAA Colourful - colourboard #30

Hello Crafty Friends,

It's the 15th of the month and time for a new colourboard challenge over at AAA Colourful, and for the month of July we have a board of - 

Blues, dusky pink and yellows

for you to be inspired by. The colours of the board must be the most prominent on your creation, but you may add neutrals like black, greys, browns, white and skin colours. Remember we love all kinds of paper craft projects - scrapbook spreads, art journaling pages, ATCs, cards, tags........ and in any style and technique too.

Want to know how I created my card, and what products I've used? Please keep on reading.
I started by creating a stencil for my circles, using nesting circle dies and a scrap piece of paper. I die cut a panel out of white cardstock and marked out the middle on it. I placed the stencil with the largest circle on the panel and masked off half of it, so that I could ink blend one half at a time. After colouring the largest halfcircle in a light pink, I switched stencils and went on with ink blending the second largest one and so on. When I had used all four of my circle stencils on the top half of my circle (yes, there are four different colours, two pinks and two yellows, on the top even if they are a little difficult to see in the picture), I started on the lower half of the circle. In the same way as before I coloured the half circles one at a time but this time using shades of blue. I gave the panel a blue border and added a stamped and heat embossed sentiment strip over the circle before addhering it to my card base.

AAA Colourful - colourboard #29

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's the 15th of June and time for a new colourboard challenge over at AAA Birthday, and this month we have a gorgeous board of -

Blues, puplepink/red violet and green

for you to be inspired by. Here is my take on the board

I don't have any purplepink/red violet markers so I couldn't get the exact colour that is on the board. Instead I grabbed the closest colour I have which is more of a lilac colour, and that's ok. Playing along with our challenges you don't have to match the colours exactly, but they should be the most prominent on your creation. Neutrals like black, white, greys, browns and skin tones may be added. We like all kinds of paper craft project like scrapbooking pages, art journaling pages, tags, cards, ATCs...... and in any style too.

To create my ATCs I started by die cutting the cards, which I then coloured using Distress Oxides and a brayer. I stenciled some leaves/vines on my cards. The parts for the butterflies were die cut and coloured before I assembled them. All the butterflies are coloured using the same coloured markers, but to give my ATCs more of a variation I mixed up what parts of the butterflies got what colour. Before adding the butterflies to the cards I added a piece of tread behind each of the butterflies. A quote was added to the cards, and to finish the ATCs I added a black border.

AAA Colourful - colourboard #28

Hello Crafty Friends,

A new colourboard challenge is up and running over at AAA Colourful, and this month we want to you to create paper craft projects using the colours -

Purples, Blues and White

A colour combination I found to be very tricky. The challenge inspiration image made me think of space, but I didn't want to go that route. I tried a few different ideas, but nothing felt right...... so I almost gave up. I am still waiting for my creative to come back, it seems to have taken a very long and drawn out break. In the end, I managed to create a simple card, and here it is

The starting point for this card was the peacock which I stamped, die cut and coloured. I know they are more blue and green, but I think purple and blue works just as well. After die cutting my card panel I die cut a heart on it. I placed a piece of cardstock I had embossed behind the heart opening to give it a little more interest. The peacock was placed infront of the heart and I stamped a sentiment. To add some more colour to my card I decided to give the panel a border, that I had ink blended to match the purple of the peacock. The finished panel was attached to a card base and I had a card!

I got the cutest little tulip die set in the post the other day, so I just had to use them for this challenge. I started by die cutting and colouring the tulips and the vase. The vase is actually a glas die from a drinks die set, but I think it works very well as a vase. The tulips were arranged as a bouquet and placed in the vase. The vases with their bouquets were addhered to two tags, one which had been dry embossed and "swooshed" with ink. I added a greeting and some ribbon from my stash to the tags and they were done.

and here's my take on the colourboard

Like last month I had an idea of what I was going to create, but the end result is nothing like what I had envisioned. I wasn't going to make a card and I was not going to include bunnies but here they are two cute little bunnies on a card.

I started by die cutting a white bunny, and coloured his nose, the hearts in his ears and the bow tie. Then I thought he needs a friend, so I cut out another little cutie but this time in kraft paper (which is a bit of a beige colour I think). I coloured the nose and hearts with a beige marker, and the bow using the same blue as I did on the other bunny. I found a scrap piece of beige paper in my stash, which has a spring feel to it and goes well with the colours of the bunnies. I added a navy blue border to the patterned paper and wrapped a piece of string around the papers. I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment on a small banner I had die cut from the same navy paper I used for the border. The banner was glued on top of the string. I added the bunnies using foam tape, and then addhered the panel, also using foam tape, to a card base. I felt something was missing, so I gave the girl bunny a pearl neckless.

AAA Colourful - Colourboard #25

It is the 15th of February and AAA Colourful colour themed challenges second birthday, Hip Hip Hooray! Can you believe it's been two years since our first challenge? Two years filled with colourful challenges, and today our 25th challenge goes live! So without further ado, here is our 25th colourboard for you to be inspired by

I have to confess, this has been a colourboard I've struggled with. I was staring myself blind looking at the board, to the point that I couldn't see the individual colours. In the end I sat down and broke it up into one colour at a time, and here are the colours I see on this vibrant board -

Purples, Pink, Blues, Green and Yellow

Here's what I came up with

I found the patterned paper in my stash and as it has the colours of the board I thought I'd use it for this challenge. I decided to make a card and chose a very simple design to show of the pattern and the colours. I die cut the paper and the word "hugs", and gave them both a frame in the same purple colour as one of the flowers of the pattern. I glued the word "hugs" to my panel and addhered the framed panel to a card base and my card was made.
To be honest I would not have had anything to show you had I not gone down the road of simplicity. Sometimes when I struggle I just have to scale it down to the bare minimum to be able to create anything. But... maybe I should at least have added a few enamel dots, and maybe I sholud have chosen a different colour for the card base ...

Now I am very curious to see how you are inspired by the colourboard, and what you will be creating..... maybe an art journal page or a scrapbooking spread or some ATCs...... well what ever you feel like and decide on I can't wait to see your creation, nor can my DT colleauges.

AAA Colourful - Colourboard #24

Hello Crafty Friends,

It is time for the first colourboard challenge of 2026 over at AAA Colourful, and this month we have a lovely board in pink and white for you to draw inspiration from.

As soon as I saw the colours I knew exactly what I was going to create, a page in my art journal with a ballerina in pink and with lots of sparkle. Here is the end result....

Not a ballerina in sight and no art journaling either, what happened?
I blame the weather!😉With January came winter and snow, lots of snow. Every day I wake up there is more snow, so somehow my balleria turned into snowmen and my art journal page into ATCs.

I started by ink smooshing distress ink onto a sheet of watercolour paper, using three different shades of pink. Then I got my stencils out, found one with snowflakes, and some texture paste. After the paste had dried I cut the sheet of paper into four ATC sized pieces. I die cut all the parts for my snowmen, and coloured them before piecing the snowmen together. I went through my stamps and found winter/snow related sentiments, which I stamped and heat embossed on white cardstock. On one of the cards I have used a Swedish sentiment that reads "Snöflingor är kyssar från himlen/ Snowflakes are kisses from heaven". The sentiments where cut into word strips, at least most of them, and glued to the cards as were the snowmen. AAA Colourful colour themed challenges - Colourboard #23

It is time for the last challenge of the year over at AAA Colourful, and we have a gorgeous colourboard for you to be inspired by.

I have to admit that I found this to be a little tricky as I always struggle with colourboards that are monochromatic or almost monochromatic, but I do think the colours lend themselves beautifully to a winter landscape so here is my take on the board.

Here is how I created my card, and a list of the products I used.
I started by die cutting a card panel with a stamp like egde. I masked of the centre of the panel and started building my winter landscape. I ink blended the background and used a stencil to create some hills. Using the same ink I stamped the trees. I also stamped and heat embossed snowflakes falling from the sky, every single one different to the others. A Christmas greeting was stamped and heat embossed before I added it to the card panel. Using foam tape I addhered the panel to a card base.

Christmas & New Year Tags

 Hello,

How are you today? Getting ready for the holidays? Inspired by the current colourboard challenge at AAA Colourful I created two tags, one for Christmas and one for New Year.

These tags were actually created by taking apart a card I had created for this challenge. It turned out that one of the other designers on the design team and I had had the same thought and our cards were almost identical.... Great minds think alike 😉

I used the cardbase and the embossed background for the tags, and two of the flowers from my card. As I had already reused the sentiment from my card on the new card I created for the challenge, I stamped and heat embossed greeting in gold on the bigger white tag and die cut, stamped and heat embossed a new greeting for the smaller tag. I also added a red tag to the smaller tag for a layered look and a place to write as the tag is embossed. I added ribbons to my tags and they were ready to go on a Christmas gift, and on a gift for New Year.

AAA Colourful colour themed challenges - Colourboard #22

 Hello Crafty Friends,

Can you believe we are already halfway through November? Time is really flying! Being the 15th of the month means it is time for a new colour themed challenge over at AAA Colourful, and do we have a beautiful and classic colour palette for you to be inspired by! The colours of the November colourboard are - 

Red, White and Gold

The first thing that came to mind was, Christmas, the colours are perfect for Christmas cards, tags.... well anything Christmas related. They are also perfect for a million other occasions, and I am sure your imagination is far more vivide than mine.

You are free to create for any occasion you want, and whatever kind of paper craft project you feel like, and in any style too. The only thing you have to remember is to have fun and that the colours of the board have to be the most prominent. You may add neutrals like; black, greys, browns, skin tones. So join in the fun and show us how you are inspired by the colourboard. You have until December 14th to create, upload and link your colourful creation to the AAA Colourful challenge blog.

Here is a little about my card, how I created it and what products I have used.
I started by die cutting my poinsettia, in white and in shiny gold. I popped out all the petals from both poinsettias. The white ones I coloured using my Copic makers, and then put them back in their place of the white poinsettia. The gold petals I put aside for another time. I added the gold outline and leaves on top of the "white" poinsettia and glued them together creating a beautiful flower in red and gold.
Then it was time for the actual card. I started by stamping and heat embossing the background using a lovely background stamp filled with Christmas related words. I cut it to size, added a red border to it and addhered it to a card base I had already prepared.
I then added my poinsettia to the card, and at this time I decided to add a vellum border to my flower before addhering it to the card. To finish of my card I stamped and heat embossed a Christmas greeting on a piece of black cardstock, cut it out and added it to my card.

AAA Colourful colour themed challenges - Colourboard #21

It's time for a new colourboard challenge over at AAA Colourful, and this month we have a colourboard in - 

Red, Green, blue, black and white

for you to be inspired by. Rembember you may create any kind of paper craft project you want to; ATCs, cards, journaling pages, scrapbooking spreads...... and in any style too. The colours of the board must be the most prominent, but you may use neutral like; black, greys, white, browns and skin tones.

Now for my paper craft project for this challenge. The colours of the board inspired me to create a card inspired by the traditional Swedish design of "Kurbits" and "Dalahästar". "Kurbits" is a decorative artform from Dalarna, Sweden, characterized by big imaginative flowers and leaves, often found on furniture, textiles, wooden objects like the "Dalahäst". Here's my take on this months colourboard, and interpretation of "kurbits".

Now, you might be wondering how I was inspired and what I was inspired to create this month. Well here it is....

a vibrant and cheerful card. I actually made another card at first, but felt it was to "pale" for how the colourboard made me feel. Looking at the colours on the board makes me happy and cheerful so I wanted to create a bright, vibrant and cheerful card. 

I started by ink blending on a card panel I had die cut a bit smaller than my card base. All the colours I can see on the colourboard where included. I then die cut the parts for the paintbrush and addhered them together. I inked the bristles of the brush to make it look as if it had just been used. I stamped a sentiment, "Let your vivid colours brighten the world", onto the inked panel, added the paintbrush and gave the panel a black border before gluing it to the card base. I hope you like it!

AAA Colourful colour themed challenges - Colourboard #16

It is time for the 16th colourboard challenge at AAA Colourful, and this month we have a lovely colourboard in purple, gold, white and black for you to be inspired by

This month I was inspired to make a card. I love that the AAA Colourful challenges give you the opportunity to create whatever paper craft project you feel like, whether it is a card, a tag, an ATC, an art journaling page, a scrapbooking spread ..... and in any style too. Such a versatile challenge!

Want to know how I created my card, and what products I used? Please keep on reading.
To create my card I die cut the cute little angels and the arched heart border. I cut the purple angel out of white cardstock and then inked it in two different shades of purple. The little fallen angel/devil was cut out of black cardstock. I die cut the border twice once from white cardstock and once from a piece of cardstock I had ink blended in purple. I also die cut a stiched panel, on which I addhered the piece of white cardstock with the heart border. To fill in the hearts on the border I used the little purple hearts from the border I cut from the purple cardstock. I added the angels on top of the border, with the purple little angel blowing a golden heart/love towards the fallen angel/devil. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in gold embossing powder, "Where there is great love there are always miracles", isn't it a beautiful sentiment?! The panel was then addhered to a card base.

AAA Colourful colour themed challenges - Colourboard #15

Hello Crafty Friends,

The AAA colourful colour themed challenges have a new colourboard for you to be inspired by, a beautiful combination of blues, turquoise, lilac/purple and green

I love the colours of this board, but I have to admit I found them very difficult to work with. At first I couldn't come up with a single thing to create, maybe because I have lost my mojo or maybe because the board is almost monochromatic, something I always struggle with. In the end I just sat down at my craft desk and started playing with the colours using different mediums; acrylic paints, inks, sprays, markers, crackle paste, volume paste, stamps, dies ....... after a while my desk was covered in blue, bluegreen and lilac/purple paint and creations. All of a sudden I had multiple options to chose from😅but "which one to share with you as an inspiration?" that was the question. I asked my family and everyone had a different favourite, and opinion, so in the end I decided to pick a creation that is wayout of my comfort zone....... art journaling/ mixed media.

This project was inspired by a quote I found on the internet and made me think - As I already find the (almost) monochromatic board challenging why not try to create one of the most challenging  (to me) projects using the most challenging (to me) techniques?
So here is my attempt at art journaling using mixed media

I started by applying a layer of gesso to my pages, then I painted them with a beautiful turquois acrylic paint. When the paint had dried I added a layer of crackle paste, to see what would happen/ how it would turn out. I added a little white acrylic paint over the crackle paste as it had dried, just to get some variation. I kept on playing and added more mediums to the mix, next up was sprays. I sprayed the pages using different blues and spritzed it with water to make the paint move. To get even more texture I used a stencil and added volume paste through it. I stamped some little sentences and a bunch of leaves in blue, green and purple around the pages. I also stamped the quote and cut out the individual words before adding them to my pages. To make the quote stand out I draw a black border around each word.

I had so much fun creating these pages, and I am so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone. They may not be the most beautiful I have created but  playing with all the different mediums was so inspiring and I might just be getting my mojo back. And isn't having fun the most important thing when it comes to creating?!

AAA Colourful colour themed challenges - Colourboard #14

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's the 15th of the month and time for the 14th colourboard challenge at AAA Colourful colour themed challenges, and do we have a fun colourboard in greens and yellow for you to be inspired by!

I have to admit, at first I found this one to be a bit tricky. Going through my stash of dies I found a cute little die set I hadn't used yet, and that I thought could work perfect for the colour combination of the colourboard. This is what I came up with

I started by die cutting all the pieces for the parrot, and some leaves and flowers. Next I ink blended the background using a stencil and distress oxide inks. I also added some ink to some of the die cut pieces. Then it was time to assemble the parrot and start building my little scene. The sentiment was stamped, and a thin border was added to the card panel before addhering it all to a card base.

Today we are celebrating AAA Colourful colour themed challenges first birthday. Congratulations to a full year of fun, inspiring and colourful colourboard challenges! Unfortunatelly I haven't been able to created anything this month for you to be inspired by due to being stuck in bed with pneumonia.
